We believe in Almighty Father
We believe in His only Son
We believe in the Holy Spirit
We believe that we all are one
Here we are together in the universe
Here we are for better and for worse
Like a mighty river, that is running to the sea
There’s such a power when we all agree
We belong together
We believe …
Africa and Asia and America
Europe and Australia as one
Black and brown and yellow
Red and white we stand
Hand in hand until the war of love is won
We belong together
We believe …
We were all created equal from the start
Only he who lies can say we’re not
Walls may separate us and keep us far apart
Yet we feel united in our hearts
We belong together
We believe …
I read a book the other day
That changed my life in every way
It read ”Noa build an ark
Before the rain begins to start”
Now I’m doing, I’m doing my part
I’m working on a building of love
Gonna build it in the name of everyone
I’m working on a building of love
Gonna build it in the name of everyone
I turned the pages of the book
And gave my life a second look
It read ”Blessed be the poor”
We’re all sisters, we’re all brothers
We should love, love one another
I’m working on a building of love
Gonna build it in the name of everyone
I’m working on a building of love
Gonna build it in the name of everyone
Everybody, let’s get together
I’ve got a hammer, I’ve got a plan
Gonna be a shelter for everyone
Call it out across the nation
Gonna get together, it’s a strong foundation
You and me, me and you, him and her, everyone
Everybody, let’s get together
Working on a building of love
Gonna build it in the name of everyone
Working on a building of love
Gonna build it in the name of everyone
Everybody, let’s get together
In the dreary emptiness of crowded city streets
Facing busy people everywhere
I look into the lonely eyes of faces that I meet
And hear the tired voices of despair
But right around the corner, before my weary eyes
A stranger takes the time to talk to me
In a strong and gentle voice, that takes me by surprise
He shares the secret of eternity
Love without limit, love without an end
At the darkest hour you’ll see it rise and win again
Clearly shown in Jesus
That’s the kind of love
This whole troubled world’s in a desperate need of
Love without limit, love without an end
At the darkest hour you’ll see it rise and win again
Clearly shown in Jesus
That’s the kind of love
This whole troubled world’s in a desperate need of
Where the walls of class and race and heritage divide
Religion sometimes keep us far apart
Still a force, a presence, can make enmity subside
Linking hand to hand and heart to heart
Love without limit, love without an end
At the darkest hour you’ll see it rise and win again
Clearly shown in Jesus
That’s the kind of love
This whole troubled world’s in a desperate need of
Everybody’s talking ’bout bagism, shagism,
dragism, madism, ragism, Tagism,
This-ism, that-ism, ism, ism ism
All we are saying is give peace a chance
All we are saying is give peace a chance
Everybody’s talking ’bout ministers, sinisters,
banisters, canisters, bishops and fishops, rabbis and Popeyes
Bye bye bye byes
All we are saying is give peace a chance
All we are saying is give peace a chance
Everybody’s talking ’bout revolution, evolution,
mastication, flagellation, regulations, integrations,
meditations, United Nations, congratulations
All we are saying is give peace a chance
All we are saying is give peace a chance
Everybody’s talking ’bout John and Yoko, Timmy Leary,
Rosemary, Tommy Smothers, Bobby Dylan, Tommy Cooper,
Derk Taylor, Norman Mailer, Alan Ginsberg, Hare Krishna….
All we are saying is give peace a chance
All we are saying is give peace a chance …
I threw out some clothes the other day
Despite the fact they fit
Why I did is hard to say
*Cause if you think about it
We have got so much we don’t care about
It doesn’t seem fair
When there are people living in the world
Who’ve never had enough to wear
If you think about it
Then I went to the restaurant, hungry as I could be
A salad, a steak and a peice of pie just wasn’t enough for me
When I’d eaten until I was almost sick and nearly out of breath
I felt even worse when I thought about
All the people who’ve starved to death
We’ve got it all, if you think about it
Will be our fall, if you think about it
Silence is a crime, no doubt about it
Now is the time for us to do something about it
”If you think about it”, I told myself,
”See things as they are
We can’t let it go much further now,
It’s already gone too far
We want so much we don’t really need
It’s time for us to share
…but on the other hand, that’s not the way to become a millionaire”
”Na,na,na,” everybody is telling me
”Do this and that
You be good, you be nice, you behave yourself
Take off your hat
Step aside, be the pride of your mom and dad
And don’t talk back
Na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na”
I’ve had enough of that
I’ve got a right to do what I wanna do
I’ve got a right to like what I like
I’ve got a right to do what I wanna do
Got a right, got a right, got a right
I’ve got a right to be who I wanna be
I’ve got a right to be who I am
I’ve got a right to be who I wanna be
Got a right, got a right, got a right
”Na,na,na,” everybody is telling me
”Do what you’re told
Be a loyal obedient citizen till you get old
Wear a tie and a smile and a poker face
And don’t get fat
Na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na”
I’ve had enough of that
I’ve got a right to do what I wanna do …
”Na,na,na,” everybody is telling me
”Be like the rest
Get a house and a car and a TV-set,
Always the best
Get a job on the side, make an extra buck
But don’t break your back
Na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na,na”
I’ve had enough of that
I want to spend my lifetime
Close to everyone
More and more I want to learn that I’m
In a family where ever I may run
Therefore, Jesus,
What I want to do
Is to be, where ever I’m going
Living close to you
I want to spend my lifetime
Close to everyone
Cry together with those who have a hard time
Laugh together with people having fun
Always fighting evil
Where it’s shining through
Jesus use me
You know how well it suits me
Living close to you
I want to spend my lifetime
Close to everyone
Showing love to all and everybody
On the earth, beneath the same old sun
But everyone’s too many
At least for me, that’s true
The only way, since you know everybody
Is living close to you
Life is a journey we all have to make
But you can travel many ways
Now you can live in fear each step you take
Just like you’re lost within a maze
Vision for a new way
One and only true way
One for me and you way
Vision for a new way
Jesus talked about it
Jesus walked about it
Have you thought about it
Vision for a new way
Some people say we’re on a dead end street
Though trying to win we’re bound to lose
Let’s pass it on to everyone we meet
That there’s a better way to choose
Vision for a new way …
Now sometimes hate is all there seems to be
And so the world seems in a mess
Only the love of God shows you and me
A way through all that wilderness
When you’ve the courage to be open
So that everybody knows and sees
Your inner worries and emotions
There is peace, there is peace
Shalom, shalom
if you want it, there it is, shalom
Shalom, shalom if you want it, there it is
Shalom
When you don’t take everything for granted
And see the wonders of the birds and bees
And show respect to what God has planted
There is peace, there is peace
Shalom, shalom …
When you have open ears to listen
And every voice is taken seriously
And no ideas are put in prison
There is peace, there is peace
Shalom, shalom …
When everybody shares the one same table
Nobody begging on bended knees
And when we break the bread together
There is peace, there is peace
